Is The Perfect Derma Peel safe for darker skin tones?
It is formulated for every skin type, from very fair to very deep (Fitzpatrick types I to VI), which is why we chose it: many stronger peels and lasers carry a higher risk of new pigment on medium and deep skin tones. Your provider still assesses your skin before your first peel, and daily sun protection during and after peel week matters for every skin tone.
Does a chemical peel hurt?
Most clients feel mild tingling or warmth for a few minutes as the layers go on. The formula contains phenol, which has a mild numbing effect, so the application is quick and comfortable for most people.
What is the downtime after The Perfect Derma Peel?
You can go back to work the same day. For the first two days your skin will feel tight and may look slightly tanned or shiny. Visible peeling usually starts around day three, is heaviest on days three to five and finishes by about day seven. Plan photos and events for after peel week, and follow the kit instructions until your skin has finished shedding.
How many chemical peels will I need?
One peel refreshes tone and texture. For melasma, stubborn dark spots or active acne, a series spaced four to six weeks apart usually gives the best result, followed by maintenance peels every few months. We recommend a plan at your consultation.
Who should not get a chemical peel?
We will postpone or skip the peel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to aspirin or any peel ingredient, have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) recently, or have a sunburn, open wounds or an active cold sore in the treatment area. Tell us about any autoimmune condition or treatment that weakens the immune system; your provider confirms candidacy at your consultation.
Chemical peel or microneedling: which is right for me?
They work differently and often complement each other. The Perfect Derma Peel works on the surface layers, which makes it the stronger choice for dark spots, melasma, sun damage and acne. Microneedling creates micro-channels that prompt new collagen deeper in the skin, which makes it the stronger choice for acne scars, pores and firmness.
